• Cirrhosis of the Liver Symptoms

    Cirrhosis of the liver symptoms can be few or none at all which sometimes makes it difficult to pinpoint a diagnosis of this condition. Some of the symptoms are non-specific which means that they could be a sign of another condition just as they could indicate symptoms of liver problems.

    Here are some of the most common cirrhosis of the liver symptoms to be aware of;

    1. Easily bruising – this is caused by the reduced production of blood clotting factors by your diseased liver.
    2. Fatigue
    3. Weakness
    4. Loss of Appetite
    5. Itching
    6. Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of your eyes).
    7. Edema or swelling (legs and ankles mostly but also abdomen)
    8. Dizziness and possibly fainting
    9. Weight gain
    10. Abdominal discomfort due to accumulation of fluid in your abdomen (ascites)

    Like with most health conditions, as cirrhosis of the liver progresses and worsens, there are other things that start happening in your body as a result of your liver not performing at its best, one of these is the accumulation of fluid in your abdomen (ascites) which causes you abdominal discomfort and weight gain.

    One of the complications of cirrhosis of the liver symptoms as the disease gets worse is known as SBP 0r Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis which is a condition where the fluid or ascites that accumulates in your abdomen gets infected by bacteria. This can be a life-threatening condition.

    You may have this stage of cirrhosis and yet have no symptoms. Others will find themselves having fever, diarrhea, chills, tender and painful abdomen and increasingly worsening ascites.

    Another condition that may arise as a result of cirrhosis of the liver is a type of internal bleeding which can eventually be fatal if not tended to promptly. If you find yourself vomiting blood (probably a worrisome symptom in any case), having black tarry stools and dizziness or fainting (especially when going from lying to standing) visit your doctor or an emergency room immediately as this could indicate that you are bleeding internally and this situation needs to be addressed immediately.

    Your liver acts as a filter for your blood removing toxins all day long. Therefore it should be quite obvious to you that you need to maintain your liver in peak health in order to protect your body and maintain good health.

    Next, consider a liver cleanse if you have not done one recently or if you have done one at all. You may also want to consider taking supplements to support your liver function. If you over-consume alcohol, be sure to cut down on this.
