• Skin Cancer

Are you aware how common skin cancer is here in the United States? 1 in every 6 Americans has been touched by skin cancer. Here we will look at skin cancer symptoms, types of skin cancer as well as skin cancer treatment using natural healing remedies.

Moles on skin are a favorite target of skin cancer so it is wise for you to always keep an eye on your moles, especially be wary of any changes in color or shape of your moles as this could be one of the symptoms of skin cancer.

A Dermatologist once told me that fair-skinned people typically get skin cancer the easiest but everyone needs to limit their exposure to the sun which can cause skin cancer. We all need exposure to the sun to get our Vitamin D needs met but over exposure can be very dangerous.

Some would argue that if they put on sunscreen they should be “covered” against skin cancer. This is NOT in fact true. Actually there are sunscreens that are toxic and could promote cancer in your body. When choosing a sunscreen go with an organic, natural suncreen like Mexitan.

From what I’ve been reading lately it is also believed that sun tanning beds or artificial sun tanning also leads to cancer.

What are the different types of skin cancer?

    1. Basal Cell Carcinoma – easily detected and huge success with treatment. A basal cell carcinoma usually appears as a small, shiny bump or nodule on the skin, and mainly on the areas exposed to the sun, such as the head, neck, arms, hands, and face.  Sometimes it can appear as a wound that will not heal. It can be itchy at times. This type of skin cancer is not usually life-threatening.

    2. Squamous Cell Cancer – Squamous cell carcinoma is typically is found on the rim of your ear, face, lips and mouth, however, it can also spread to other parts of your body. This is a more aggressive skin cancer than basal cell carcinoma, but is also is highly treatable. Again this type of skin cancer is not usually life-threatening.

    3. Melanoma – Melanoma is the rarest but most aggressive form of skin cancer and in most cases is life-threatening. As with most skin cancers, melanoma is more common among fair-skinned people.

    Here are some risk factors for getting skin cancer;

    1. Light eyes
    2. Red or blonde hair
    3. Fair complexion ( although this does not exclude darker complexion people completely)
    4. Family history of skin cancer (melanoma)
    5. Lots of freckles
    6. Inability to tan
    7. Change to a mole
    8. Lots of moles
    9. Overexposure to the sun
    10. Environment

Since Melanoma is the most serious of the 3 skin cancers mentioned here let’s look at what you need to be on the lookout for regarding skin cancer symptoms of melanoma; (Melanoma is best treated when diagnosed early, as with most cancers.)

    1. A mole that has changed in size, shape or color
    2. A mole that is oozing or bleeding
    3. A mole that is itchy or feels lumpy, hard, swollen or tender when you touch it.

Here are some simple tips to help you to distinguish cancerous from non-cancerous moles. (if at all in doubt be sure to get a doctor’s opinion).

There is a rule of thumb called the ABCD Chart used in identifying malignant melanomas and it goes like this… these signs below indicate a possible malignant melanoma.

Asymmetry – when half of the mole does not match the other half
Border – when the edge(border) of the mole is ragged or irregular
Color – when the color of the mole varies throughout
Diameter – is the mole’s diameter is larger than a pencil’s eraser

So now that we’ve looked at the types of skin cancer let’s look at some of the natural healing remedies so that you can find your skin cancer treatment solution.

    1. Wear sun protection clothing

    2. Green Tea – helps when you drink it as well as if you apply it topically to a skin cancer lesion

    3. Curcumin – it is believed that curcumin may help destroy and thwart the growth of melanoma cells.

    4. Baking Soda & Maple Syrup – a controversial natural healing remedy offered by a non-doctor that has been used successfully on a lot of cancer sufferers.
    Here is the recipe;
Mix one part baking soda with three parts maple syrup in a small saucepan.
    Stir briskly.
    Heat for five minutes.
Take one teaspoon daily, as needed.

    5. Colloidal Silver – helps to choke off the oxygen supply to the cancer cells causing them to die.
