    Do you or your mate snore whenever you sleep? Sometimes it can be difficult to sleep next to someone who is snoring. Many look into buying stop snoring devices or anti snoring devices, if you prefer, trying to deal with this problem. Here we will look at what causes snoring and what remedies for snoring are available for you,including stop snoring devices that might be effective.

    Snoring is not usually a serious or dangerous condition, unless it is actually tied to sleep apnea which can be life-threatening. So you need to be sure that your snoring is not connected with sleep apnea.

    Snoring occurs when something is blocking air flow. It occurs during sleep because of your sleeping position and the relaxed state of your body. Usually tissues in your airway end up in contact with each other and vibrate.

    What causes snoring?

    1. Being overweight
    2. Tonsillitis
    3. Being congested
    4. Sinus problems
    5. Enlarged adenoids

    7. Age – Age is also a factor. Older people tend to snore more because muscle tone tends to decrease with age.
    8. Alcoholic drinks
    9. Extreme exhaustion
    10. Certain medications eg. sedatives

    So what stop snoring devices, tips or remedies are available?

    1. Have the snorer turn over. Snoring occurs many times when a person is lying on their back so changing to lying on their side will help and usually stop the snoring

    2. Lose weight – if you are overweight then work on getting back to your recommended body weight.

    4. Surgery – if you have enlarged adenoids or tonsils, removing them surgically can stop snoring issues. In every surgery there are risks so, for me, this would be a last resort.

    5. Medications – there are certain medications that can reduce the size of tonsils or adenoids if they are inflamed. eg. Steroids or antibiotics. This doesn’t always work, however, and sometimes the side effects can outweigh the benefits of these medications.

    6. Sleep Apnea – in the case of sleep apnea you might want to use a CPAP (Continuous Positive Air Pressure) machine. These machines take getting used to as you must wear a mask while you are sleeping.

    7. Limit alcohol consumption – especially close to bedtime
