• Yeast Infection

    You may surprised to find out that Yeast Infections are not only experienced by women. Men can also suffer with yeast infections. As a matter of fact, yeast infections can occur in many parts of the body including under the arms, between toes and in the vagina. Thankfully there are many natural remedies for yeast infection.

    While a yeast infection is not a serious illness or condition, its symptoms of itching and burning can be extremely irritating. For a vaginal yeast infection typically there will be a white, odorless, thick discharge. The vulva could become swollen and very sensitive to the touch making sexual intercourse very uncomfortable and unpleasant.

    Urinating becomes very uncomfortable as well, as the acidity of the urine burns the irritated area.

    Some antibiotics are known to cause yeast infections so this could be the reason you are suffering with a yeast infection now. Some of the other causes of yeast infections are 1) Stress, 2) Menstrual Periods and 3) Diabetes. All of these promote growth of the yeast known as candida fungus which is the root of yeast infections.

    Here are some helpful natural remedies for yeast infections;

    1. Tampon Dipped in Yogurt – This may sound odd but it’s one of the most highly talked about home remedies for yeast infections. The technique is to dip a tampon into plain yogurt and insert in into the vagina at least twice per day. Continue this until at least 1 day after your yeast infection appears to have healed.

    2. Tea Tree Oil – Another method that also uses a tampon is to apply tea tree oil instead to the tampon and apply in the same way.

    3. Garlic – Note: Some use this method vaginally and some recommend that you do not do so. Basically what you do is make a paste with the garlic and apply it to the affected areas. Probably if you ate a few raw cloves of garlic you would have the same outcome as garlic is a natural antibiotic and antiseptic.

    4. Probiotics – Probiotics help to boost the good bacteria in your digestive system.

    Here are some do’s and don’ts when you have a yeast infection;

    1. Avoid sugary foods and drinks
    2. Avoid white flour and products made with white flour
    3. Increase the amount of water you drink
    4. Eat natural yogurts that have “live” probiotic cultures
    5. Stay away from carbonated drinks and juices
    6. Use natural sugars, like Stevia if you must sweeten something
